Experience

Beautiful photographs are only

part of the experience.

Your wedding day shouldn’t feel like one long photo shoot.

I want you to be present for it—to laugh with your friends, hug your family, enjoy the party, and actually spend time with each other. I’ll offer direction when you need it and step back when you don’t, creating beautiful photographs without pulling you away from the experience you’re there to have. The goal is simple: photographs you love, and a day you genuinely enjoyed creating them on.

The 4-step experience

STEP 01

Before the Wedding

It starts with getting to know you.

From our first conversation, I want to understand what matters most to you—your people, your priorities, and how you want your wedding day to feel. As the day gets closer, we'll work together on timing, family photographs, locations, and all the little details that help photography fit naturally into your plans.

STEP 02

In Front of the Camera

Direction when you need it. Space when you don't.

You don't need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands—that's my job. I'll give you direction when it helps, keep things moving, and create space for you to relax and have fun together. When a real moment is unfolding, I'll step back and let it happen.

STEP 03

ON THE WEDDING DAY

Be present. I'll take care of the photographs.

Wedding days move quickly. After nearly two decades of photographing them, I know when to slow things down, when to move fast, and when to quietly disappear into the background. I'll work alongside your planner and vendors, keep portraits efficient, and make sure photography adds to your day rather than taking you away from it.

STEP 04

AFTER THE WEDDING

Photographs that become more valuable with time.

Your photographs are meant to live far beyond your wedding day. You'll receive a thoughtfully edited gallery that brings you back to the moments you remember—and plenty you didn't get to see. From albums and prints to future family portraits, my hope is that your wedding is only the beginning of the photographs we'll create together.

“What really sets JJ apart is how comfortable she made us feel. We felt like we were wandering New York with our best friend.”

THE WEDDING IS OFTEN JUST THE BEGINNING

One of my favorite parts of this work is getting to photograph what comes next. Many of the couples I've photographed on their wedding day have invited me back years later for pregnancy and baby announcements, holiday cards,

family portraits, and all the milestones in between.

I've watched families grow and children grow up through my camera, sometimes for more than a decade.

Those relationships mean the world to me—and I hope your wedding is just the beginning of ours.

FAQ

01.What if we're uncomfortable in front of the camera?

You're not alone—and you don't need to know how to pose. I'll give you direction when you need it, keep things moving, and help you feel comfortable without making anything feel overly staged. My goal is for you to stop thinking about the camera and enjoy being together.

02. How involved are you in planning before the wedding?

Very. We'll talk through your timeline, portrait locations, family photographs, lighting, and anything else that will help the day run smoothly. I also work closely with your planner and other vendors so photography fits naturally into the day rather than dictating it.

03. How would you describe your photography style?

Timeless, energetic, and a balance of editorial portraiture and photojournalism. I'll step in and create a beautiful portrait when the moment calls for it, but much of the day is spent observing and documenting what's happening naturally—the expressions, interactions, and moments you couldn't plan if you tried.

04. When will we receive our photographs?

You'll receive a carefully edited online gallery that makes it easy to view, download, share, and print your photographs. Turnaround varies depending on the season and coverage, so your specific delivery timeline will always be outlined clearly before you book. Albums and fine-art prints are also available for couples who want something tangible to keep and pass down.

I work with a trusted team of photographers I’ve built relationships with over the past 15+ years. They share my approach and photographic style, and regularly work alongside me as second photographers as well as lead photographers for JJ Ignotz Photography. If I’m unavailable for your date, I can pair you with an experienced member of my team while I remain involved in the planning and ensure your final gallery reflects the same style and standards you see throughout my work.

05. What if JJ isn’t available for our wedding?

Yes to both. Wedding videography can be booked on its own or alongside photography, with my team working together to create a cohesive look and experience throughout the day. Photo booths are also available as an add-on—a fun way to capture a completely different side of your guests once the party gets going. Both can be customized to fit your wedding and added to your photography collection.

06. Do you offer videography or a photo booth?
